AEROPLANE MAKERS

October Half Term

Aeroplanes are designed in lots of different ways and for lots of different reasons! Some are designed to take us on holiday, others are designed to protect us in war and a few are made to take us into space! In this workshop we will be exploring the wonderful world of flying machines by exploring our model planes and creating our very own aeroplane out of craft materials. Where will yours take you?

These workshops last one hour, and will be available on:

D-DAY 75 EXHIBITION

Until 31 December

This new exhibition sheds light on the significant role of the Bunker and No. 11 Group, during D-Day on 6 June 1944, in planning and directing tactical air operations. The display explores the history of the site during that time, discusses the formation of the Allied Expeditionary Air Force, explains the organisation of the Combined Control Centre to coordinate Allied fighter operations, and shares the wartime experiences of individuals based at Uxbridge during D-Day. Entrance to this temporary exhibition is included with a ticket to the Visitor Centre.

THE POLISH TRAIL

Ongoing from November 2018

The Polish Air Force Heritage Trail guides visitors through four locations in the London Borough of Hillingdon that were significant to the Polish Air Force – based at RAF Northolt and RAF Uxbridge – during the Second World War. From 3 November, four locations will feature new information and photographs of these brave airmen. The trail will link: the Battle of Britain Bunker, the Polish Air Force Memorial, the Orchard (Ruislip) and Northwood Cemetery. For more information, photographs, video and trail maps, please visit the Polish Air Force Heritage Trail website.
