VE Day 80 Speaker Series – Chris Leworthy – ‘6th June, 1944: one of the most important days in the history of the 20th Century’
The 6th June, 1944: one of the most important days in the history of the 20th Century.
D-Day was far more than a landing of troops on five well defended beaches, as it required a major commitment from all three services and the involvement of millions. Discussing the Allied position in 1944, the hard lessons learned from the infamous ‘Dieppe Raid,’ the key objectives for Operation Overlord, the intense preparation and rehearsal, and finally what happened on D-Day itself, Chris Leworthy will be giving a vivid description of each part of the invasion, bringing the story to life with the inclusion of the experiences of individuals as they grappled with the challenges in front of them.
The talk will take place in our Auditorium at 11:30 and lasting for around 60 mins. Entry is FREE but booking is advised.
