Enemy Engaged by Dilip Amin – a book launch and Q&A

Join historian and author Dilip Amin at the Battle of Britain Bunker for the launch of his latest book, Enemy Engaged.

A compelling follow-up to the highly acclaimed Enemy Sighted, Enemy Engaged continues the story of the men and women of RAF Fighter Command in the aftermath of the Battle of Britain. Fresh from victory in 1940, the Royal Air Force begins the difficult transition from a force fighting for survival to one taking the offensive against Nazi Germany.

At the heart of the book is No. 11 Group Fighter Command Headquarters at RAF Uxbridge. Drawing upon official documents, archive material and first-hand testimony, Dilip explores a period of profound military and political change within the Royal Air Force. He examines how Fighter Command responded to the Blitz, expanded offensive operations over occupied France, and ultimately played a pivotal role in the lead-up to the ill-fated Dieppe Raid.

The book also places these events within the wider context of the Second World War, exploring how mounting losses within Fighter Command, Hitler’s invasion of the Soviet Union, and the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor shaped Britain’s evolving air strategy and the relentless offensive that defined this crucial phase of the war.

Following the illustrated talk, Dilip will host a Q&A session and book signing, giving attendees the opportunity to discuss the research behind the book and purchase a signed copy.
